Born from the tragedy of 9/11, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation carries forward a legacy of courage and heroism. Built upon the mantra, “While we have time, LET US DO GOOD,” the Foundation supports our nation’s fallen and catastrophically injured first responders, military heroes and their families.
When I go to work, I walk into a building named after 3 heroes....Captain William Harry Thompson, Sergeant Mitchel Wallace, and Sergeant Thomas Jurgens. Every day is a reminder of their awe-inspiring heroism, their tragic sacrifice, and our unwavering responsibility that we swore to uphold. Many other men and women have either battled or succumbed to illnesses sustained from their bravery on 9/11 and the days that followed. One hero from that day, Chief Joseph Baccellieri Jr, long time Chief of Training and Commanding Officer of the NYS Court Officers Academy, recently passed away following a tragic accident. His vision and determination pushed this job to a level of respectability that nobody else could have ever imagined. All of those that went above and beyond deserve to be remembered, and honored for their actions.
