On September 28, I’ll run the Tunnel to Towers 5K. This event retraces the path firefighter Stephen Siller took on 9/11, racing through the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel with 60 pounds of gear on his back to reach the Twin Towers. He gave his life in service to others.
This run also honors the nearly 3,000 people we lost that day, and those who’ve since died of 9/11-related illnesses. For me, it is personal. I worked for years in the World Trade Center alongside men and women who never came home. They were ordinary people doing their jobs, and their absence is still felt deeply by their families and by those of us who knew them.
I’m raising $2,500 by September 15th and $5,000 by September 28 to support the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which provides mortgage-free homes for families of fallen first responders, smart homes for injured veterans, and programs to end veteran homelessness. With 95% of donations going directly to these causes, your support makes a real impact.
