Born from the tragedy of 9/11, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation carries forward a legacy of courage, sacrifice, and heroism. Guided by the belief, "While we have time, let us do good," the Foundation supports fallen and catastrophically injured first responders, military heroes, and their families.
This mission has been very important to me, for my entire adult life...
In the weeks following September 11, 2001, as a senior at Hawthorne High School, I became involved with S.H.A.R.E. (Students of Hawthorne Acting Responsibly and Effectively). Through that experience, I connected with FDNY Engine 16 Ladder 7 and was paired with Katie Proodian, whose father, FDNY firefighter Richie Muldowney, made the ultimate sacrifice while serving others on 9/11.
What began as a service project became a lifelong connection.
Over the last 25 years, the Muldowney family, along with the extended Engine 16 Ladder 7 family, have become people I deeply love and care about. Through their strength, resilience, kindness, and commitment to honoring Richie, they have taught me invaluable lessons about courage, service, and perseverance in the face of unimaginable loss.
Today, I proudly walk with the Muldowney Moondogs and Tunnel to Towers to honor Richie, Katie, and all those we lost. I also run to support the families who carry their loved ones' legacies forward every day. The Muldowney family's commitment to keeping Richie's memory alive through service continues to inspire me, and it is an honor to help support that mission in any way I can.
Please consider making a donation through my fundraising page. Every contribution helps Tunnel to Towers continue supporting America's heroes and the families who sacrifice so much on our behalf.
Thank you for helping us honor Richie Muldowney's legacy, and ensure that the courage of our nation's heroes is never forgotten.
Always remembering. Never forgetting. ❤️
